In Synod News

Bishop Constanze and several members of our Synod recently traveled to Nicaragua for the installation of Rev. Katia María Cortez as the new Bishop of the Lutheran Church in Nicaragua, known as The Lutheran Church, Faith and Hope of Nicaragua, or the Iglesia Luterana Fe y Esperanza de Nicaragua (ILFE), which is one of our companion synods.

Our Companion Synod Coordinator is working to compile photos from the delegation members to create a slideshow to share the experience. In the meantime, we thought it would be good to share a couple of videos ILFE created to give more insight into their history and some of the work they do.

The first video tells the story of ILFE’s founding and some of its early history, up to about the early 2000s.

The second talks about their Diaconal Ministries, ministry in context, and their interpretation of holistic ministry.

We hope you find these videos informative and help you feel a greater connection to our siblings in Nicaragua. If you have any questions or would like to learn more, contact companion-synod@sdsynod.org!
