LSS recognizes the Governing Board of Directors for 2018. This group of individuals continues the proud tradition of compassion, vision and leadership as LSS nears its century celebration of 100 years of service. Directors serve three-year terms and a maximum of three terms. Members include:

It all began as the Lutheran Children’s Home Finding Society in 1920 with the primary purpose of caring for young girls facing unplanned pregnancies. The mission to care for, support and strengthen individuals, families and communities continues today. Last year, LSS touched the lives of South Dakotans 61,144 times with a variety of services in communities statewide, serving people of all ages, races, faiths and economic levels with professional, confidential and affordable services.

Core services offered by LSS include adoption, pregnancy counseling, foster care, kinship services, childcare and education, disaster response, mental health counseling, re-entry services, Center for Financial Resources, residential services for children and youth, alternatives to detention, independent living services for young adults, mentoring, Better Together and Center for New Americans.

LSS employs approximately 500 people across the state with the central administrative campus located in Sioux Falls. LSS is a human services ministry supported by the SD Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. LSS is licensed by the State of South Dakota, is a United Way Agency, and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation. For more information go to LssSD.org.
