Week 2: Companion Synods in Nicaragua and Cameroon

“…because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.”
I was recently asked what makes the Gospel of Jesus Christ attractive to Cameroonians. I shared that because life in Cameroon is challenging (mainly due to poverty), Jesus offers a living hope. A hope that although this life is challenging, we have something to look forward to- eternity with our Maker. For this reason, many people in Cameroon have learned the importance of living with an eternal perspective. How often do you think about eternity? Does thinking about eternity bring you joy and hope or fear and doubt? Today, I invite you to think about the things in life that truly matter. In the words of Paul in Philippians 4:8, whatever is lovely and admirable, think about such things. Also, pray that more people in Cameroon and Nicaragua may come to hear the Good News so that they too might have this living hope.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of eternal life. We pray for all those who do not yet know you, especially in Cameroon and Nicaragua. We ask that you strengthen your servants in these countries so that they may continue to preach the Good News of Christ in peaceful conditions. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
