Bishop Constanze Hagmaier delivers her 2021 Christmas message to the South Dakota Synod’s congregations, rostered ministers, and members:
“…Speaking from my own experience, 2021 has been a year with much restlessness in so many facets of our life and our neighbors’ lives. Throughout the year I frequently had to remind myself that by nature we are sojourners. As much as we would like to have arrived — peace and quiet, contentment and serenity, will not be permanent as long as we live in the flesh. “Foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to rest his head.” Those are God in flesh, Jesus’ very own words about the cost of discipleship.
But hope for our sojourney to be filled with purpose and with a promise-filled ending was born on Christmas, when God came down to take on human nature…”
