The 2024 Fall Theological Conference will be held September 15-17 in Pierre, SD. The featured speaker will be Rev. Nicole Woodley of the Moses Project, who will speak on the theme “Standing On The Rock – The “Brut-I-Full” Life Of A Rostered Leader: Finding Your Voice, Speaking To Your Community, And Surviving The Storms.”

About Rev. Nicole Woodley

Originally from Newton, Iowa, Nicole graduated from Simpson College with a degree in Biology and received her Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School. Nicole’s ministry experiences include working in Iowa, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Minnesota and range from urban to rural and anything in between. Nicole and her husband, Grant, are fourth-generation farmers, pastors, and parents of five.

Nicole’s experiences as a foster and adoptive mother and a two-time cancer survivor have been the most formative training grounds for her faith and pastoral ministry. Nicole is a mentor with the Moses Project, which is a Thriving in Ministry Initiative giving rural pastors a vision of ministry that will help them thrive in congregational leadership and, in turn, enhance the vitality of the congregations they serve.

About the Conference

The 2024 Fall Theological Conference will be held in person at Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre, SD.

Lodging

Each registrant is responsible for making lodging arrangements. Lodging is available at the AmericInn by Wyndham in Ft. Pierre (312 Island Drive, Ft. Pierre, SD 57532), and there is a block of rooms held under “SD Synod.” The cost for a 2-Queen or 1-King Standard Room is $159.99 plus tax. Room reservations must be made by September 4th. Another block of rooms is available at the My Place Hotel in Ft. Pierre (209 Hustan Drive, Ft. Pierre, SD 57532) under the name “Crystal McCormick.” The cost for a Single Queen Room is $155.49; a Two Queen Room costs $165.49. Room reservations must be made by August 15th. Call 605-494-2090.

Optional Activities

There are optional activities you can participate in on Monday, September 16 in the afternoon.

  • Group Spiritual Direction/Meditation and Centering Time led by Pastor Emily Munger (free) – please sign up in your registration. There are two sessions, from 1:30-2:30pm and 2:45-3:45pm (max of 12 participants per session).
