40 Day Journey with Our Neighbors in Solidarity

Week 2: Companion Synods in Nicaragua and Cameroon
Written By: Nathalie Fida Lassang, SD Synod Companion Synod Coordinator

Matthew 28:19-20

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Have you ever tasted something you thought was extremely delicious? If yes, did you think of someone you love and wonder how you might share this food with them? While growing up, my mother always attended women’s meetings. Food was shared at these meetings and my mother would always bring home some of the food she received to share with us at home. I used to wonder why she would not just eat it all… It is almost impossible to truly find something we think is amazing and not share it with those we love.

How did you come to know about the Lord? Do you believe telling people about God is bringing good news to them? If yes, how might you participate in this spreading of the good news of Christ? I invite you to ponder on these questions today. Ask the holy spirit specifically to show you how you might participate in sharing the good news of Christ with our neighbors in Cameroon and Nicaragua. Here is a tip: you do not have to be physically present in these countries to contribute to the great commission. Our Synod works in partnership with missionaries in Cameroon and we have a missionary in Nicaragua whom we support.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of the Good News. We have tasted and seen that you are good. Show us how we might share this good news with our Companions in Cameroon and Nicaragua. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Today’s Practical step:

In your conversations today, share with at least one person what fun fact you learned about Cameroon and Nicaragua. Call a member of your congregation and share these fun facts with them. Use this as an opportunity to check on how they are doing.
