The ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program invites ELCA young adults ages 21-29 into a transformative, year-long journey in international service. As they offer themselves in service, ELCA young adults are shaped by the witness of our global neighbors. They share in the journeys of companion churches and organizations in one of nine countries around the world.

Through an intentional year of service, the Young Adults in Global Mission program invites young adults to become the hands and feet of Jesus in the world, providing critical support to ministries and projects in communities of need.

Applications are now open starting December 1 – February 15, 2017 for service beginning in August 2017.

Thad Titze, a Watertown, SD native, spent a year dedicated to service in Görögszállás, Hungary after graduating from Augustana University in 2013. Thad noted his experience as being immersed in with different cultures, both in the program, and in the Hungarian village he served.

“It allows you to separate yourself from being back at home and heightens your awareness of your neighbors’ needs,” said Titze.

Titze described the Young Adults in Global Mission year as being a transformative year where you will be challenged personally, spiritually, and then being challenged in how you will serve others upon your return home.

“What you do every year after your experience matters with how you choose to serve others in your daily life.”

Titze highly recommends the program for anyone who is interested because young adults are given the gift of time and flexibility to engage in a year of service.
