Safe Zone Training

Safe Zone trainings are opportunities to learn about LGBTQ+ identities, gender and sexuality, and examine prejudice, assumptions, and privilege.

Our facilitator is Willette Capers, the Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Director from Augustana University. She will lead us through a day-long training that will equip participants to create safe space for LGBTQ+ persons, especially in their congregations.

This event is open for all who want to learn more about creating a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ persons. Everyone can be a safe zone leader. We hope pastors, deacons, ministry professionals, engaged volunteers, and interested community members will all feel welcome to participate and lend their voices to the conversation.

Supported by the South Dakota Synod, ELCA and South Dakota Lutherans for Full Participation.
