Taize Prayer Service at St Mark’s, Sioux Falls

You are invited to share the experience of a Taize Prayer Service at St Mark’s Lutheran Church!

The first Taize prayer service will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 7:00 PM and will be repeated the first Friday of every month.  This event is open to any person of faith seeking a time for prayer and reflection.

The service is comprised of meditative singing, prayers, candle lighting, readings and times of silence. The short chants used in the service are just a few words to express a basic reality of faith. As the words are sung many times, this reality penetrates the whole being. Meditative singing thus becomes a way of listening to God. It allows everyone to take part in a time of prayer together and to remain together in attentive waiting on God. As you learn the chants, feel free to sing the melody or a part that is best suited to your voice range. These songs sustain our personal prayer. Through them, little by little, our being finds inner unity with God. They continue in the silence of our hearts when we are at work or resting.
