The first two “Chili with the Bishop” events are next week in Pierre and Rapid City! All rostered leaders, presidents, treasurers, and lay leaders are invited!

Tuesday, January 15 will be at Lutheran Memorial in Pierre (320 East Prospect Avenue) and Thursday, January 17 at Trinity Lutheran in Rapid City (402 Kansas City Street). Chili will be served at 5:30 PM.

This year’s “Chili with the Bishop” is a continuation in our effort to encourage each congregation to develop a mission plan that helps us live into our common vision That All May Be Fed. This year we will be hearing from community leaders such as educators, county sheriffs, fire fighters, to learn their perspective on life in the community. Together we will practice the art of “Listening to Community” to discover what God is up to as we are led to address the real hopes and hurts in our communities of faith.

The guest speaker in Pierre will be Chief Bob Grandpre, Pierre Chief of Police. The guest speaker in Rapid City will be Chief Steve Allender, Rapid City Chief of Police. (Check out Chief Steve Allender’s blog.)

There will also be an opportunity to listen to one another. What questions do you have for your synod staff or other pastors, presidents, and treasurers? You will be given the opportunity to ask your questions and to listen to your colleagues in the South Dakota Synod.

We hope you can join us for good food, conversation, bible study, and an opportunity to hear from leaders in our communities.
