Cedro Galan is a farm owned by the Lutheran Church of Faith & Hope of Nicaragua in the outskirts of the city of Managua.  This farm is home to the pioneer and ecologically sound agricultural project known as “The Green Project of Cedro Galan.”  It’s also the place where all overseas visiting delegations stay when they come to Nicaragua.  The farm is in need of some improvements to continue in its ministry.  Improvements include bathroom facilities, kitchen facilities, dining facilities and sleeping facilities.  The total cost of this project is estimated at $50,000.

Retreat Facilities Cedro Galan Project: Iglesia Luterana Fe e Esperanza (ILFE) operate a farm, retreat, and training facility on the outskirts of Managua. It is called Cedro Galan. Cedro Galan is currently under renovation in order to provide a better standard of hospitalility to small groups of 6 to 12 people. We expect this work to continue from October 2016 to at least June of 2017. This construction work should not stop the church from hosting your group. Our missionary Sergio Rios Carillo (Sergio.Rios.Carillo@iluterana.org) is able to assist you in making arrangements for housing at Cedro Galan. The budget provided by our Synod is $50,000 US for these renovations. As of October 1 we have already received $41.000 and we expect the rest from Congregations which have promised their contribution before the project is complete.

Green Project Cedro Galan:

The Green Project uses Cedro Galan for headquarters, but it attempts to help farmers modernize resources for agricultural development throughout villages in Nicaragua. It conducts training sessions and outreach on grafting trees, planting and water management techniques, and ecology. There is a small seed bank which helps Nicaraguans in case of disaster. Current technicians working with the Green Project are Ilo and Angel Diaz. Our South Dakota Synod attempts to support these efforts with gifts of up to about $20,000 US each year as our contributions allow.
